J.E. Wallace

. E. Wallace was born at Oxford, Miss., October 18, 1848. He learned the carpenter's trade, which he followed until some time after his arrival in Redlands. He was married in Mississippi, March 4, 1870, to Miss Anna Dooley, and their wedding trip was to Colorado, where they resided for several years. They have two children, both boys. In 1887 Mr. Wallace first came to California, but afterward returned to Colorado and brought his family to this state the following year. After living in Fresno and in Los Angeles county, they came to Redlands, November 13, 1890. For two years from April 1, 1894, Mr. Wallace served the city as night watchman. At the city election in April, 1896, he was chosen city marshal and is the present incumbent of that office.
