In California Mr. Inwood has served at Soledad, Glendale, Garvanza, Fallbrook, Banning and completed his fifth year at Redlands on September 25, five years being the limit of pastorates in the Methodist Church. Mr. Inwood is one of the six men in the conference whose five-year terms expired this year. He was married at Covina, to Miss Jeannette Baldridge, a native of Geneva, N. Y. They have three children. The commencement of the Methodist society in Redlands was the appointment of Rev. Chas. W. Nicklin, September 20, 1887, to the circuit comprising Redlands, Mound City and Highlands. October 23 he organized the society, Mrs. Isaac Jones being the first person to unite with the church. Owing to ill health Mr. Nicklin was unable to fill out the year and was succeeded by Rev. J. W. Phelps. The first services were held in the old Y. M. C. A. hall. In September 1888, B. C. Cory was appointed pastor and during the following year built the church that has since been greatly enlarged. Mr. Cory found a membership of forty-nine persons and left one of 220. In 1892 Mr. Inwood was appointed and the membership increased to 418. During the five years of his administration, over $8,000 was raised by this congregation for building purposes and for benevolent and missionary uses, in addition to the regular expenses of the church.
