H. Field was born at Albion, N. Y., June 26, 1857. After graduating at
a local academy he went to the Highland Military Academy at Worcester,
Mass., where he also graduated. His education was finished at the Law
Department of Michigan University, and after graduating there he spent
a year in foreign travel. Mr. Field has been admitted to the bar in Michigan,
New York, Kansas and California, and has practiced his profession in each
of these states. A large part of his practice has been in connection with
loan companies, in the examination of titles and management of estates.
In 1887 Mr. Field was obliged to go to Colorado Springs on account of
his health, where in 1890 he was married to Miss Myra L. Howard,
a daughter of the Hon. Mark Howard, late president
of the National Fire Insurance Company of Hartford, Conn. Seeking a milder
climate they came to California in 1892, and have since resided in Redlands.
Mr. Field is president of the board of trustees of the Union
High School and of the First Congregational
Church, and a member of the board of trustees of the public library.
