J.W. England

.
W. England is the only son of Thomas Y. England, senior member of the
firm of England and Bryan, of Philadelphia, Penn. This house controls
one of the most extensive wholesale leather businesses in the United States.
Mr. England had visited California several times before his final return
to become a citizen, November 20, 1887, since which date he has been a
voter in this State. He has a tasty and commodious residence on Palm Avenue,
where he entertains many of his eastern relatives and friends every winter.
Both his father and himself have other property interests in Redlands,
the former being the owner of Prospect Hill, once the site of the first
hotel in Redlands and a location which commands a fine view of mountain
and valley scenery. It has recently been greatly improved and may at some
time become the permanent home of its owner. As a family, the Englands
are always interested in everything, which advances the prosperity of
Redlands.
