
Thomas M. Dugan

he
pioneer news agent of Redlands is Thomas M. Dugan, who, on October 17,
1887, opened a news and cigar stand in a little building, which stood
on the site of his present location in the Otis block, into which he moved
on its completion in 1891, and where he still remains in business. Born
in San Francisco, Aug. 13, 1859, he was educated in the public schools
of that city and began his business career as conductor on the North Beach
and Mission streetcar line. He next became owner of one of the Chronicle
newspaper routes and continued in this work until he came to Redlands.
He is an enthusiastic member of Redlands Parlor, No. 168, N. S. G. W.,
organized Nov. 8, 1890, and has been a delegate for three successive years
to the Grand Parlor.
