A. Boyer, successor to Lee Wilmarth as a dealer
in paints, oils, wall paper, etc., at Nos. 7-9 East State street, is a
native of Rockport, Ind., where he was born in 1867. Most of his early
life was spent at Petersburg, Ind., and later he lived for three years
at St. Louis. There he learned telegraphy, which he followed for several
years in many of the principal cities of the country. Mr. Boyer came to
San Bernardino from Chicago in 1893 and became interested in the Virginia
Dale mining district. He was also connected with Littlepage's paint store
at San Bernardino.
Mr.
Boyer purchased his present business from Lee Wilmarth October 12 last.
This is the only establishment in Redlands devoted exclusively to wall
papers, paints, oils, glass, plate glass, fancy enamels, artists' materials,
brushes and similar commodities. It has always carried a splendid selection
and Mr. Boyer will keep the stock and the quality up to the highest standard
of the past. He will make a specialty of the Phoenix and the Heath &
Milligan's mixed paints. He has a full line of room moldings and makes
picture frames of all grades and prices to order. Mr. Boyer carries in
stock Fuller's Rubber Cement Floor paints, Murphy's varnishes, carriage
and interior, Rosenberg's Elastica, and gutta percha varnishes, Fuller's
and Berry Brothers' hard oil finishes, Masury's Japan and oil colors,
and Heath & Milligan's Creolite floor paints.
In wall papers, dadoes
and borders Mr. Boyer carries the latest and best designs, from the cheapest
to the most elaborate, from all the leading Eastern firms. Business in
all of these lines is constantly increasing in Redlands with the continued
growth of the city and Mr. Boyer proposes to maintain an establishment
which will be fully equal to all demands.
