C.M Baxter

. M. Baxter was born at Buffalo, N. Y., April 23, 1831, but grew to manhood in Vermont, where he lived, in the towns of Norwich and Woodstock, until 1872, and then moved to Lebanon, N. H. His earlier business career was passed in Norwich and Woodstock, Vt., as a manufacturer of furniture and a wholesale and retail dealer in the same. Later, in New Hampshire, he became a manufacturer of wood-working machinery, the business then established being still conducted under the name of the Baxter Machine Company. Mr. Baxter first came to California in 1887, and became interested in this country, but went back and forth for a few years, finally taking up a permanent residence in Redlands in September, 1892. Here he has been engaged in ranching and in making investments for eastern connections. May 20, 1856, Mr. Baxter was married to Eunice Noble Hatch, a resident of Norwich, Vt., with whom he has lived happily over forty years.
