Halsey W.Allen

orn in 1857, at Jersey City, N. J., Halsey W. Allen graduated from the scientific department of Yale University in 1876. For three years he was a teacher in the public schools of New York State and then entered the law office of the late Governor Beadle, of New Jersey, as a student. Admitted to the bar in 1881, he practiced his profession with success until 1887, when he decided to go west, and came directly to Redlands. Soon after his arrival he was made superintendent of the Redlands, Lugonia and Crafton Domestic Water Company, a position which he still retains. Mr. Allen is also a director in the Crafton Water Company and has been its secretary for the past four years. He is largely interested in Redlands as a property owner and orange grower and has a beautiful home on Brookside Avenue. He is a member of the executive committee of the Republican County Central Committee; was a charter member of Redlands Lodge No. 300 F. & A. M., and is also a member of the two other Masonic orders in Redlands, the Royal Arch and the Lodge of Perfection. Mr. Allen is also a vestryman and treasurer of Trinity Episcopal Church. In 1890 he married Miss Stella Lindsley, of New York City, whom he brought to the home that he had prepared in Redlands. They have one child, Sylvia, now five years of age.
