Preface

his work is a presentation of the facts by THE FACTS. From its inception the publisher has inflexibly adhered to the purpose of making it a truthful reflex of the home life and industrial progress of Redlands, without gloss or glamour, varnish or veneer. It is realized that large numbers of the volume will be sent abroad and that its statements will be closed scanned by many persons who may subsequently have opportunity to test their truthfulness. No one shall have cause to point to a single paragraph and rightly claim that it contains a willful misrepresentation.

Within these pages there will be found no appearance of effort to portray Redlands in any but its own true colors. The pictures, being photogravures, are necessarily accurate, and the descriptive matter is plainly and truthfully presented.

The time will come when this work will be priceless to those who are fortunate to have preserved it.

Years hence, when the children of today are turning these leaves for the amusement or edification of their children, there will be nothing much dearer to their hearts than the portrayal of Redlands in the days of auld lang syne.
