Redlands Preserving Company

he Redlands Preserving Company was incorporated April 1, 1897. During the past year it has built and equipped the first cannery every established in Redlands, which is very conveniently located both for the reception of the fruits to be utilized and with regard to shipping the finished products, on Fifth Street and Redlands Avenue, between the tracks of the Southern Pacific and Santa Fe railroads.

This establishment has a capacity of 30,000 cans of fruit a day, being completely equipped with all the latest and best machinery. Its building means a new industry for Redlands and a new outlet for the unrivaled fruits of this section. The deciduous fruits grown here have a very high percentage of sugar and are of superior size and flavor. Only the highest grades of preserved, crystallized and canned fruits, jellies, marmalades, etc., will be manufactured, and an effort, which will doubtless be successful, will be made to secure for the deciduous fruits of this section a reputation equal to the already high reputation of the citrus fruits.

The brands of this company, which are in themselves very attractive works of art, are the "Pure Gold" and "Brownie." The former is extra, in very heavy syrup, the finest selected goods that can be prepared. The latter is extra standard. The cannery is in full working order and will be operated next season as constantly as the amount of fruit procurable will permit. The amount of deciduous fruit grown here is already large, and, with the new and profitable outlet which the Redlands Preserving Company will furnish, it will doubtless be rapidly increased. The present directors of this company are: C.N. Andrews, C.J. Holmes, F.P. Meserve, William Craig, Lewis Deck, T.L. Hites and F.U. Nofziger. C.N. Andrews is president and B. G. Holmes secretary.
